TOWN OF SIMSBURY – DIAL-A-RIDE

Type of Service - Wheelchair accessible door to door Regular and Enhanced Dial-A-Ride Service for Simsbury residents age 60 and older or persons with disabilities.

Additional Information - The program runs Monday through Friday, and provides transportation around town for medical appointments, shopping, Senior Center activities, hairdresser/barber appointments, Library, Town Hall, and visiting with a friend. Trips to area Malls are made on Mondays. Tuesday mornings a trip is provided to Granby Center for medical appointments, banking, laundromat, food shopping, and Library. Wednesday afternoons and Friday mornings transportation is provided to Avon for medical appointments, stores along Route 44, the Simsbury Commons, and Big Y/Wal*Mart. Medical appointments in Granby should be scheduled for Tuesday mornings, and medical appointments in Avon should be scheduled for Wednesday afternoons or Friday mornings. Schedule your Dial-A-Ride reservation when you schedule your medical appointment.
Telephone - Reservations can be made between 8:00am and 12:00 noon at least the day before you need the ride at (860) 693-6876. This service is door-to-door. If, because of space/time constraints, we are unable to serve anyone on a given day, priority will be given to medical appointments and food shopping.
Cost – An annual donation of $25 for an individual or $35 for a couple purchases a Dial-A-Ride pass, which is available at the Senior Center and Social Services Offices. The drivers cannot accept donations.

The Beneficiary Travel program provides eligible Veterans and other beneficiaries mileage reimbursement, common carrier (plane, train, bus, taxi, light rail etc.), or when medically indicated, "special mode" (ambulance, wheelchair van) transport for travel to and from VA health care, or VA authorized non-VA health care for which the Veteran is eligible.
