Transportation’s
Effect On Our Community

Getting around shouldn’t be a challenge, but for many people, it is.

Access to transportation affects everything: your job, your health, your independence. Everyone in our communities deserves the same opportunities to move.

25%
of US adults are transportation insecure. The CT DoT is working to change that.

Why Transportation Matters

Transportation is essential to daily life. Most of our activities like work, healthcare, education, and shopping require us to leave home. Without reliable transportation, people face barriers to opportunity and quality of life.

Mobility Management is about helping people, not just moving vehicles.

It focuses on connecting individuals with accessible, reliable transportation options so they can get where they need to go across North Central Connecticut.

ACCESSIBILITY MOBILITY BENEFITS EVERYONE

Individuals & Community

Employment rises, health outcomes improve, communities thrive, and individuals live more independently.

Businesses & Institutions

Employers, schools, and healthcare providers need people to be able to reach them reliably.

Public
Agencies

Human services and workforce development programs depend on transportation to serve their clients effectively.

Reaching People Where They Are

Way To Go CT provides outreach through social service agencies, churches, senior centers, shelters, and media outlets. We distribute printed and online guides covering transportation options in each town, including:

  • Bus and Transit Schedules

  • Travel Training

  • Dial-A-Ride Services

  • Taxi Voucher Programs

  • CTFastrak Updates

  • Private & Public Transit Services

Every Voice Matters

Let Us know you’re experience. We want to serve you better.

Through our call center and community surveys, we identify transportation gaps and find ways to fill them. We actively seek input from transit operators, social service providers, nonprofits, and community members like you. This feedback shapes our work and gets shared with the Department of Transportation to drive real change.

If you’re facing transportation challenges, we’re here to support you and make sure you are heard. Our Steering Committee helps guide our program and explore new funding opportunities.
