The Beneficiary Travel program reimburses eligible Veterans for travel to VA or VA-approved non-VA care via mileage, plane, train, bus, taxi, light rail, or special mode (ambulance, wheelchair van) when medically needed.
Eligibility includes Veterans who:
Have a service-connected rating of 30%+, or
Are traveling for treatment of a SC condition, or
Receive a VA pension or have income below the VA pension limit, or
Are traveling for a scheduled compensation or pension
Special mode transport is provided if medically required and pre-authorized by a VA clinician (emergencies are exempt).
